US-40 Berthoud Pass Mountain Access Project
Berthoud Pass, Colorado

Mining Claims / USLM

For this Colorado Department of Transportation contract, JFSA field crews located several mining claims, placer mines and mill site to determine how they would affect an increase in the State Highway 40 right-of-way. Massive research was performed at the Bureau of Land Management and all local entities to determine ownership. All mining corners along with bearing trees were cleared of surrounding growth and made more visible by the setting of T-posts or carsonite. USLM monuments were found and tied out to existing bearing trees / ties. If the original ties were missing, new ties were set. Along with this, monument records were created and filed with the Board of Registration for Professional Land Surveyors.

Right-Of-Way Plans

This project also includes widening the existing right-of-way of State Highway 40. JFSA is currently under contract with Colorado Department of Transportation Region 1 for surveying services and to construct a complete set of right of way acquisition plans. JFSA has performed supplementary Tmoss engineering design surveys, Utility locations and appraisal staking.
