Section Survey
Trinidad, Colorado
Section Breakdown
JFSA was required to breakdown several sections of
land to complete the Survey Control Portion of the CDOT R2 project number IM-IR (CX) 025-1(121).
Most of the original corners in the City of Trinidad were missing. To perform this task, JFSA
used the Bureau of Land Management field notes along with passing calls and performed several
boundary surveys on platted subdivision and metes and bounds descriptions to rehabilitate,
upgraded and or set twenty-nine land corners in Sections 7, Township 33 South, Range 63 West
and Sections 12, 13, 24, 25 and 36, Township 33 South, Range 64 West of the 6th Principal Meridian.
Along with this, thirty monument records were created and filed with the Board of Registration for
Professional Land Surveyors.
Control Network
J.F. Sato and Associates (JFSA) were required to densify the
HARN in Southern Colorado. The scope of this project includes setting new stations from the state
line to north of Trinidad, locating specified land corners pertinent to CDOT and tying an existing
GPS network in Trinidad into CDOT's statewide network.
Right-Of-Way of Interstate 25/BNSF Railroad
JFSA was required to determine the interstate right-of-way along
with the existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad right-of-way and the abandoned Colorado Southern
railroad right-of-way in the City of Trinidad, Colorado. The JFSA surveying department obtained railroad
maps from Topeka, Kansas to help perform field locates to tie down the right-of-way.
ACEC Merit Award
JFSA received Merit Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies
of Colorado (ACEC) for the project.
