Marston Reservoir Outlet Project
Denver, Colorado

The Marston Reservoir Outlet complex is located in Denver, Colorado and receives water from the South Platte River before it is conveyed to the Marston Water Treatment Plant. Marston Reservoir has a storage capacity of approximately 19,800 acre-feet with a area surface of 600 acres. The dam was constructed in the early 1900's.

J.F. Sato and Associates (JFSA) was selected to provide pre-design, final design and construction management services. During the initial phase of the project, JFSA will develop, analyze, and recommend an alternative to improve the outlet works capacity to deliver raw water from Marston Reservoir to Marston Water Treatment Plant. A key objective is to develop an alternative that can withdraw an additional 6,000 acre-feet of water that the existing system leaves as dead storage. 6,000 acre-feet of water is approximately 2 billion gallons. Another key objective is to develop an alternative that can withdraw water from different reservoir water surface elevations. This permits the plant operators to select water for treatment with the desired water quality properties.
