Roberts Tunnel
Lake Dillion, Colorado

J.F. Sato and Associates was recently selected by the DWD to carry out a study on the migration of sediment in the Roberts Tunnel. This 10.25 ft diameter tunnel has a capacity of 1020 cfs and supplies a significant portion of the raw water for the metro Denver area. The source of the sediment is to be determined and alternatives developed to prevent sediment from entering the tunnel. We will also pre-design a method to trap any sediment that may enter from uncontrolled sources before it can cause damage to the hydroelectric turbine or control valves located at the end of the tunnel.
